From Chianti to Montepulciano, we had an interesting time
After leaving Umbria we drove to Castellina in Chianti to visit our friends at Casa Vinicola Cecchi. We were treated to lunch at the winery by Andrea Cecchi and had the opportunity to taste their new wine, COEVO.  From there, we made our way to Castello Montauto, the Cecchi villa just outside San Gimignano for a two night stay and an opportunity to cook for ourselves. We took a side trip or two, then departed for Pienza (a delightful little hill town) and Montepulciano. By chance, we ended up staying nearby in Chianciano Terme where people come to “take the waters” for their livers.  We lucked upon the Hotel Edy... clean, comfortable and affordable. The amiable host looked a lot like my dear, departed father so, we felt right at home.

Mama (Edy) cooked a pre-fix dinner each evening. We enjoyed the experience and will stay there again when in the area.
I was able to whip up a dinner of chicken cutlets, pan roasted potatoes and fresh green beans at Castello Montauto. Right, I’m serving an antipasto to the other guests.
